CVIAQ members, staff and invited guests gathered together at The Greek Club on Saturday evening 6th October 2009 to enjoy some Greek hospitality and to celebrate the achievements of some of the industry’s most talented apprentices at the 2009 CVIAQ Annual Dinner and Awards Night.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement and presentation of the CVIAQ Apprentice of the Year Award. The 2009 award was won by Mr Lochlin McKean of MTU Detroit Diesel. Sponsors of the Awards, Mr Glen French from Warby Tools and Mr Peeter Liiv of National Transport Insurance were on hand to present the award to the winner and to say a few words in support of the competition. Lochlin, an apprentice in Certificate 3 Automotive Specialist, was presented with a framed Award certificate, a laptop computer, software & printer and tools to the combined value of approximately $3,500.00.
Also acknowledged during the evening were Daniel Khan and Michael Millewski from MTU Detroit Diesel, who were the winners of the CVIAQ Apprentice Challenge, held in May during the Queensland Truck and Machinery Show. A slide show presentation of the event followed by some words from Chairman of the CVIAQ Service Managers Council, Mr John Edwards of Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd provided guests with an understanding of how the event was organised and run.
Guests were treated to some fabulous Greek dancing performed during the meal breaks by the Hellenic Dancers as well as being served some excellent Greek food, wines and beer.
The CVIAQ wish to thank major sponsor, Trader Business Media for its generous sponsorship of the dinner, Apprentice of the Year Award sponsors, Warby Tools and National Transport Insurance for sponsorship of the prize packages presented to each award recipient and The Greek Club for providing the Greek themed decor and assisting with the lucky prize giveaways during the evening. |
