04/07/08  CVIAQ Responds to the AUM08 Bus, Truck & Trailer Manufacturer Training DRAFT Package

CVIAQ recently responded in the most strongest manner to the AUM08 Bus, Truck & Trailer Training draft package circulated by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to the State Training Authorities for approval following CVIAQ’s identification of numerous and significant errors and changes that had crept into the draft package originally approved by industry in 2006.

Most of the changes were errors and omissions in the actual competency listings, in particular Certificate 3. CVIAQ had identified seven competencies missing from the competency menu from the draft package sent to DEST (DEEWR) in 2006.

CVIAQ communicated its frustration and disappointment at the delays that have seen the draft package being held in suspension for two years awaiting the final stage of implementation only to have errors and omissions creep in.

Following its response CVIAQ has received communication from Automotive Training Australia that DEEWR and the State Training Authorities have accepted all of CVIAQ’s recommendations listed in its response. Full endorsement of the Training Package should occur in mid-September.
