The CVIAQ raised $112,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation at the 2008 CVIAQ President’s Charity Dinner on Saturday 1st March.
The dinner which was held at Brisbane City Hall’s Main Auditorium has become an annual event with 2008 being the seventh year the CVIAQ Board has made the Leukaemia Foundation its beneficiary.
The money was raised through two silent auctions, the Charity Truck Fundraising Wall and the main auction which included valuable auction items like the Isuzu FVD 1000 truck courtesy of Isuzu Australia and a Tri-axle skel semi trailer courtesy of O’Phee Trailers.
Around 420 guests representing the industry’s leading companies enjoyed an evening hosted by Mr Bruce Paige and entertained by magician, The Amazing Nigel, youth performers Flipside Circus and band Mirasole.
Artist, Donna Gibb, was once again present to paint during the evening with the finished product going up for auction in the main auction event. After unsuccessfully bidding for the original painting at the past two Charity Dinners, CVIAQ was finally successful in being the highest bidder on the night. The painting, once framed, will take pride of place in the foyer of the CVIAQ office.
A huge thank you is extended to the Charity Dinner organising committee comprising past CVIAQ Board Presidents Mr Mark Johnston (Haulmark Trailers) and Mrs Sharon O’Phee (O’Phee Trailers), past CVIAQ Board Director Mr Glen Lewis (The Glistening Truck Company), current CVIAQ Board Director Mr Chris Musch (Isuzu Australia) and Leukaemia Foundation staff Ms Katherine Tink and Ms Anna Tran.
CVIAQ also wish to thank the guests at the Charity Dinner who donated so generously to make the night such a great success for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Over the past seven years the CVIAQ President’s Charity Dinner has raised in excess of $640,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. CVIAQ continues its commitment to assist patients and their families living with Leukaemia, Lymphoma and other related blood diseases. |
