On the 16th of July at the Jindalee Hotel Function Centre a second industry focused workshop was held to review industry workforce planning and development issues. The focus of this project is to get the industry to tackle issues that can’t be resolved at an individual business level.
The group revisited issues that were identified in the previous 2008 workshop. Due to the changed economic conditions and the effect on the industry, the discussion around these issues had changed significantly. The one issue that remained constant and that was identified as the main outcome that should be achieved through this project was career path development around the sector as an industry of choice, rather than a trade you can fall back on.
Through the coming months the project will focus on this outcome and will engage with other businesses in this sector to develop strategies and implement actions that will achieve this goal.
