23/11/11  Logan Engineering Cluster involved in Industry Tour
 

CVIAQ member company,The Brown & Hurley Group, Yatala branch, opened its doors to the Logan Engineering Cluster (LEC) to hold its term meeting and to tour the facility to identify the industry career options available to students.

The LEC has been created to provide partnering opportunities between schools, local industry, training providers and other community stakeholders. Its formation has been to assist engineering oriented school students participate in challenging and relevant learning experiences that broadens education and career aspirations and improves school to workforce transition outcomes. 

Secondary schools represented on the day were Kingston College, Mabel Park State High School, Marsden State High School, Rochedale State High School, Springwood State High School and Flagstone Community College. These schools all have or are in the process of building or have access to engineering trade training centres.

Industry was represented by CVIAQ, The Brown & Hurley Group, Cummins South Pacific, Hastings Deering, the Logan Office of Economic Development and the Worklinks Partnership Broker.

Many well deserved thanks to Mr Darren Aitken, Service Manager, The Brown & Hurley Group, Yatala branch, for providing the meeting facilities and conducting the tour.
