31/03/08  CVIAQ Calls for Increased Training Capacity in MSQ Skills Plan

CVIAQ CEO, Mr Brett Wright, has been invited by Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) onto the MSQ Advisory Committee to represent the skilling needs of the Automotive Manufacturing sector of the manufacturing industry.

MSQ was established in 2007 with a role to lead the skilling agenda for Manufacturing and Engineering and to provide advice to Government on vocational education and training.

Mr Wright has been invited to be part of the advisory committee due to CVIAQ’s continued involvement in education and training within the automotive manufacturing area, in particular, in the area of Metals Engineering and the Automotive Bus Truck and Trailer (BT&T) qualifications.

Since being on the committee, Mr Wright has contributed to the development of the MSQ Skills Plan highlighting the issues of the delayed introduction of the reviewed BT&T training package, resources and funding for the Certificate 4 course and training capacity issues at TAFE that are now impeding the uptake of BT&T apprentices.
