The Manufacturers Council met at the CVIAQ offices for their first meeting of 2010.
The meeting finalised the CVIAQ position on the use of a Manufacturers Plate when re rating the GCM on new prime movers. The Council supports the use of a separate plate for this purpose.
The meeting reviewed the Department of Infrastructure Work Program and the action list from TLG 34. The Secretary was provided direction on a number of the action items and will prepare responses.
The National Heavy Vehicle Brake Strategy response and its potential effect when incorporated into the ADR’s were debated at length. The meeting agreed to seek further consultation with the Department on this issue.
The Council reviewed the responses to the Department of Infrastructure on the following:
Changes to ADR 8/01: Reduction of light transmission levels to 70%
Proposal to exempt items from width measurement
Proposal for a minor amendment to ADR 50
The Council also discussed the possible methods to provide under run protection to tilt tray tow trucks, as requested by the Department of Infrastructure. This is to be carried over to a specific meeting of tow truck manufacturers in March. |
