25/11/09  Industry Careers on Display for Marsden State High School Students

CVIAQ member companies, Cummins South Pacific and Drake Trailers Australia, opened their doors to three classes of Year 11 engineering students from Marsden State High School, Logan district, and provided an informative day showcasing all the career options available to students within their businesses during the fifth CVIAQ Schools to Industry Tour to be held in 2009.

The tour, conducted on Wednesday 25th November, proved very successful in terms of genuine student interest. The host companies, an engine manufacturer and a trailer manufacturer proved to be the right mix in providing students with information on the majority of trades available within the heavy vehicle manufacturing sector.

Many well deserved thanks to Mr Edwin Crisp, Apprentice Master, Cummins South Pacific and Mr Greg Allison, General Manager, Drake Trailers Australia, for giving up their valuable time to supervise the tours. A special thank you is directed to Drake Trailers for providing lunch to all participants on the day.

The 2009 CVIAQ Schools to Industry Tour continues the tradition established by tours in other school districts in providing a vehicle for students to make informative choices about apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience within the commercial vehicle industry as they prepare to leave school and enter the workforce.
