Experience+ Training grants are available to help employers train their mature age workers (55 years and over) where the worker supports or supervises an apprentice or trainee.
Eligible employers can apply for grants of $4950 (includes GST) to pay for, or contribute to the cost of approved training for a mature age worker. Funding is provided to the employer in two instalments: a ‘start up’ payment of $3500 (includes GST) and a ‘completion’ payment of $1450 (includes GST).
If you employ a mature age worker under an Award or Certified Agreement for at least 15 hours per week AND employ at least one apprentice or trainee who works at the same location/site as the mature age worker, you can apply for Experience+ Training.
You can also apply if you are a mature age small business owner operating in Australia (working in your business for at least 15 hours per week) AND you employ at least one apprentice or trainee who works at the same location/site as you.
Approved training must be Certificate III (or above) level and must be delivered in Australia by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Employers are encouraged to work with their employee to seek Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which could significantly reduce the amount of time required to achieve this qualification.
To apply for Experience+ Training you must complete an Application Form available on the Experience+ website. Applications will open on July 1 of each financial year and close on June 30 of that financial year or when available funds for that financial year have been exhausted.
Each application form allows you to nominate up to ten mature age employees to receive training. For every mature age worker you nominate, there must be an equivalent apprentice or trainee.
