10/08/09  CVIAQ & Queensland Transport Agree to Regular Meetings to discuss Industry Issues

The Queensland Liaison Group (QLG) has been formed to facilitate discussion on topical issues relating to vehicle standards and regulatory issues affecting the heavy vehicle industry. The QLG membership consists of Queensland Transport and Main Roads Department and the CVIAQ. The meetings will also include other interested parties who are stakeholders in the issue under discussion.

The initial meeting of the group will be held on Monday 31st August at Transport House. Future meetings will be on a bi-monthly basis and will alternate the venue between the CVIAQ premises and Transport House.

This forum will provide a valuable communication link between the Regulators and Industry to address the many issues that arise.

On the agenda for the first meeting will be the following issues:
Use of Trade Plates on New Unregistered Vehicles- Revised Proposal by CVIAQ
Display of the Correct GCM Rating on Vehicle Plates on certain upgraded new prime movers
Review of the Heavy Vehicle Code VSB-6
  Other topical matters of importance
This forum will provide a valuable resource for both the Department and industry to discuss issues and resolve difficult problems in an open environment.

The meetings and outcomes will be reported on to members in this newsletter. Any member wishing to have a topic raised at future meetings should get in touch with CVIAQ Technical and Regulatory Officer John Samson by phone 3376 6266 or email j.samson@cviaq.asn.au.
