Following on from an article on industry release for TAFE teachers in the March issue of Headway, CVIAQ is requesting assistance from member companies to provide product training to TAFE trade teachers.
The capacity of these trade teachers to remain current with contemporary industry practices and the ever changing vehicle and equipment fleet is in some way limited by the opportunity for them to engage with industry on a regular basis.
There are currently provisions for TAFE trade teachers in Queensland to undertake up to two (2) weeks professional development within each calendar year. The purpose of this leave is to enable the trade teacher to gain exposure to and experience contemporary work practices and equipment.
CVIAQ will co-ordinate with members, SkillsTech Australia, QASA and Manufacturing Skills Queensland to develop a program for ongoing TAFE teacher professional development utilising CVIAQ member in-house product training courses and urge members to contact CVIAQ to advise dates of product training courses and places available for TAFE trade teachers. |
