CVIAQ CEO Mr Brett Wright attended the November TLG meeting representing the CVIAA. The CVIAA made formal responses to proposed changes to ADR 63 “Trailers Designed for use in Road Trains” as well as Circular 0-7-5 “Trailer Categories”.
The CVIAA proposal for ADR 63 included the removal of Marking and Strength requirements (covered in ADR 62 and in the AVSR’s), removal of the requirement that “the vertical axis of the ‘Coupling’ pivot must be not more than 300 mm forward from the rear–most projection of the trailer” and “the height of the towing attachment and the ‘Drawbar’ pivots determined in the unladen condition must be 875 ± 75 mm”.
Members will be advised when the revised ADR is released.
The revision of Circular 0-7-5 proposes to standardise trailer definitions to the following definitions:
Semi Trailer Being any trailer with an axle or axle set that causes the trailer to place a load of > 10% GTM or 1 ton on the suspension of the towing vehicle.
Centre Axle Trailer A trailer with the axle or axles mounted at the COG point of the trailer in the loaded state (Pig Trailer).
Full Trailer Dog Trailer
The full Circular will be made available to members when released. This information at this time is a proposal and should not be acted on.
