There have been several instances where member companies using Dealer Plates have had difficulty with Transport Inspectors while moving unregistered vehicles.
CVIAQ recommends that all Queensland members using Dealer Plates download the Dealer Plate Regulations by clicking on the graphic below and closely examine them.
In addition to the requirements listed in this document members should be aware that it is an offence to use a Dealer Plate on a vehicle that has no Australian Compliance Plate. This may occur for a number of reasons and may not mean that the vehicle is not compliant. It must have a plate attached or carry a Manufacturers Letter as per the Vehicle Standards Instruction MOVEMENT OF UNREGISTERED NEW VEHICLES.
CVIAQ has approached Queensland Transport to change the Regulations to enable wider use of Dealer Plates to avoid inconvenience and expense to members. The proposal is available here. Members will be advised when we receive an answer on this proposal. |
