18/07/06  CVIAQ Members briefed by NTC on Concessional Mass Limits
 

CVIAQ members met at the Jindalee Hotel Function Room on Tuesday 18th July to attend a presentation by the National Transport Commission’s Peter Rufford on the recently introduced Concessional Mass Limits (CML) Scheme.

Mr Rufford’s presentation covered the details of the scheme and importantly for members the varying positions taken by the States in the implementation of the scheme.  The presentation also included detailed information on the following areas of CML:

    National Policy

    GVM Limits

    Suspension Maintenance

    Operation

    Role of NHVAS

    Aims of CML

    State Issues

    Implementation

    The Future

    Accreditation Policies
 

Mr Rufford called on the CVIAQ and its members to assist the NTC in the review of the implementation of CML by providing feedback on its take up and facilitating access to suspension manufacturer’s recommended maintenance requirements.
